Window: from Old Norse, “Vinduaga” = vindr / “wind” + auga / “eye”, “Wind Eye”

“The term ‘window’ has primarily to do with the shape of my work. All works, whether painted or drawn, are done in squares and typically have some kind of frame around the edges of them. By frame I mean a band, strip or fluctuation in color indicating a scene, symbol, change of landscape or form that has developed within.”

Andrew recently received residency at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and is actively pursuing his BFA from Randolph College in Lynchburg, VA. His work has been shown at Sweet Briar College and during the Maier Museum’s hosting of the Legacy Museum of African American Art History’s 25th Anniversary.

He lives in Monroe, Virginia with his family and has been painting “Windows” since 2012. He has been drawing since he was a child.
